Working on my edible garden and more

Still a slow process. I've managed to cut out some overeating, but not all. I'm drinking two drinks a day. Three of our children are at two as well. Two are at one a day as is their father. He'd like two, but I'm gone in the mornings when he gets up, so I am only able to prepare him one a day.

Yesterday and today I worked on my edible garden.

This is a yellow cherry tomato. Also planted around it are onions.
This is an orange-yellow cherry tomato. Onions are also planted around this one.
These are chives. We've planted garlic chives as well. The basil seeds have disappeared, so I guess, it's back to the hardware store for more. This will be our herb garden. (this reminds me of an epitaph I wrote)

Here lies Herb Spice

Took a chance and rolled the dice

Thought he was the spice of life

Until discovered by his wife

Ha Ha Ha. Anyway, the openings of the blocks have bush beans and marigolds. The marigolds provide natural bug protection. We plan to add more beds and plant leaf lettuce, spinach and maybe squash and potatoes. Already have papaya, banana and avacado. Lost our orange and grapefruit trees to the government when they were taking our backyard trees. We have an apple tree, but it doesn't really produce. They really need the cold of winter and although I'll complain about our winters, they're really not cold enough for an apple tree.

Here's to healthier eating habits, losing weight and living a healthier, longer life.

Ran out of Spinach

I used the last of the spinach last night. Ate a couple of eggs cooked in my new ecopan. No oils or grease used. Went to a friends baptism and birthday party. Ate a hot dog, chips and cake. Purchased needed vegetables, fruits, etc at the farmer's market. Drank my cleansing mix with papaya. Didn't pick up another pineapple as I have papaya ready.

Picked up some seeds to grow lettuce, spinach and herbs. Will plant tomorrow. Nothing like fresh. I read an article that fresh-locally grown fruits and vegetables are the most nutritious followed by frozen then those from out of the area. Our Healthy Habits produce and fruits starts back up in the new year.

Taking daily weights, but will only post them weekly. My goal is to lose 50 pounds and help my husband lose enough that his acid reflux goes away.

Children and husband still asking for their cleansing drink, so that's a good thing. They're still working with me to eat healthier and live a healthier lifestyle.

Here's to eating (drinking) healthy.

Yesterday and Today

Wednesday I woke with a rumbling intestinal tract. It was upset before I started this program and cleared up later in the day. One of our daughters complained of an upset stomach Wednesday evening. I recommended she drink only one a day for the time being. (she had two drinks on Wednesday) She agreed.

My husband called, as is his usual consideration, to let me know he was on his way home and inquired if his drink would be ready. It was. He's as excited about being healthier and understands this important step to changing our improper eating habits.

Thursday I woke extremely tired. I searched the net and read that the release of toxins could cause the tiredness. It could also be caused by the fact I'm not eating or drinking stimulating foods and therefore my usual tired self was present. I was well behaved and drank two glasses, one for breakfast and one for lunch and ate a salad for dinner. The rest added ham to their salad and ate their usual breakfasts and lunches along with their drink.

Today I woke more refreshed and drank two glasses, one for breakfast and one for dinner, and ate salad, cottage cheese and potato salad for lunch with one small beef rib. Not so well behaved, but better than usual. I spent most of the day with my parents visiting for the holidays at my sisters in Broward.

Plugging along and working on healthier living.

This will be a slow process

but I expect to be eating differently by the end of 2013. I purchased the pears, apples (we have only a few left from our organic order), spinach, papaya and pineapple (for those who want something different).

Three of our children readily drank their cup. One didn't like the taste and the other flat out refused. I made two batches. One for those that were home after purchasing the needed fruits and vegetable and one for those coming home from work. I added ice to the second batch. Two of the children, who'd had the first batch, asked for some from the second. (hopefully that won't be too much for us beginners)

I weighed myself to see if this helps with my weight problem. I felt full most of the day, but didn't adjust our meal to accommodate the desired eating habit change. That's why I say it's going to be a long process. Lunch was waffles and dinner split pea soup made with the ham bone from Christmas dinner. Very tasty.

Okay, here's the weight information from my scale bought from Curves through Avon.

188 lbs
F-37.2% (I think the F is for fat. Lost the information booklet and can't find the information on the net)
W-45% (Assuming W is for water--as above)
B-5.1% (Again, assuming B is for bone)
M-32.6% (M for muscle)
Cal-2883 (number of calories needed to maintain weight) Definitely don't want to maintain this weight, so I guess I need to eat less calories and exercise more.

On my way to healthier living--on the slow road

Received a Nutribullet for Christmas

from our daughter, Tori. We'll blog our successes and failures as we make our next move to a healthier lifestyle. We presently purchase shares of organic vegetables from Healthy Habits.

We will now begin the process of planning our menu and obtain the additional needed fruits and vegetables.

We will start with the Toxin Cleansing Blast:

1-2 handfuls of rinsed spinich
1 cored pear
1 banana
1 cored apple
1 cup papaya (recipe calls for pineapple, but pineapple gives my husband grief)
water

once a day. I found the above recipe , elsewhere on the net, that says to drink 8 oz 3 times a day for 10 days. Can't confirm Bullet's recommendation for the toxin cleansing, but their 6-week transformation plan recommends one Phase 1 blast daily for two weeks. The Toxin Cleansing Blast is a Phase 1 recipe. Phase 3 has a Liver and Colon Tonic for cleansing.

Follow us and feel free to join us as we continue our goal of healthy living.
